Meet Dr. Michael Hilgers
Michael Hilgers, DDS
The relationships we build with patients are the most amazing thing about orthodontics. I love watching people leave our practice with beautiful smiles. We love to see them come back years later and tell us how we changed their lives. My staff and I really enjoy working with people and being a part of the community, and practicing orthodontics allows us to do both. It is fun to work in a profession where you can learn as much from your patients as they learn from you.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Arts degree – University of Colorado
- Doctorate of Dental Surgery – University of Colorado Health Sciences Center
- Hospital Residency - Yale University
- Master of Science in Oral Biology – University of Louisville
- Orthodontic Residency – University of Louisville
I am constantly involved in continuing education. I always attend orthodontic conferences and meetings to learn the latest techniques and technology available. This benefits my patients because they receive the most up-to-date treatment. I choose to participate, not only because I always want to learn more, but also because, as a health professional, I believe I owe it to my patients.
Education has been an integral part of my life, and I have an innate thirst for knowledge. I thoroughly enjoy learning, and I understand the importance of being up-to-date with current orthodontic concepts. Therefore, continuing education through attendance of seminars, lectures, and meetings is something I look forward to.
In the Office
Hilgers Orthodontics has one of the most experienced orthodontic staffs in the West Valley. Each staff member on average has more than 10 years experience, with many of the staff having more than 20 years. All of the staff in our office love what they do and treat patients like they are a part of their family. The staff is a lot of fun and especially loves throwing debanding parties! I could not imagine having a better orthodontic staff.
Community Involvement
I am involved in many charity events in the West Valley and spend almost every weekend volunteering and helping my community. Some of the events and organizations that I have sponsored include:
- New Life Center
- Heart and Soul 5K Run Walk
- Kids Run the Bases at Spring Training
- Star-Spangled Fourth
- Homeplate for the Holidays
- Easter Egg Hunt for low income families
- Goodyear in Action fighting childhood obesity
- CrossFit Fury fundraiser for fallen officers
- American Youth Soccer Organization
Family Life
I am originally from Lakewood, CO, and have lived in Litchfield Park for the past six years. My wife, Dr. Kelly Hilgers, is a pediatric dentist at Hilgers Pediatric Dentistry in Goodyear. We have a son, Alec, and a daughter, Aubrey. My wife and I love to travel and experience new things. We spend a lot of time with our children, and we love watching them grow. The majority of our weekends are spent sponsoring charity events or being involved in local community events. We feel it is our responsibility to give back to our community.
