Dr. Hilgers’ Background

Dr. Hilgers has provided orthodontic care in the Goodyear, Arizona community since 1972. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Colorado.  Following dental school he completed a two year specialty residency training at Yale University.  Here, he specialized in Cone Beam Computed Tomography Technology (CBCT), a medical imaging method employing tomography where digital geometry processing generates a three dimensional image of an object from X-ray images taken around a single axis of rotation.

After completing his residency training at this Ivy League school, Dr. Hilgers earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Louisville School Of Dentistry.  He also earned a specialty certificate in Orthodontics.  In 1972, Dr. Hilgers moved to Arizona and joined a specialty group practice featuring Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.  There, he worked closely with Dr. Gary Harnett who is a renowned leader in orthodontics.  Today, Dr. Hilgers’ solo private practice is limited to orthodontics exclusively.

Dr. Hilgers and his family love Goodyear, Arizona for its diverse offerings. They enjoy many activities and sports together, including hiking, cycling, golf, and fishing. From the Luke Air Force Base air shows to the Estrella Mountain Regional Parks hikes, weekends are never dull.  Sometimes, Dr. Michael J. Hilgers and his wife Dr. Kelly Hilgers, who is Pediatric Dentist in Goodyear, Arizona, will travel with their son Alec to the White Tank Mountain Regional Park for the weekend.  The Hilgers family is committed to spending quality time together and enjoying the outdoor air of Goodyear, Arizona!  Often, Dr. Michael J. Hilgers and his wife, Dr. Kelly Hilgers, find they focus most of their weekends cheering for Alec, their son, and his sports teams.
